General Philosophy – Introduction
General Philosophy is a new philosophical system that seeks to overcome the divide between Chinese and Western traditions by integrating their wisdom. It innovates on the basis of norms, synthesizes on the basis of analysis, and develops a framework that moves from Small General to Great General Philosophy. This provides a practical tool for understanding nature, society, and the self, while also offering a policy framework for addressing the challenges of globalization.
At its core, General Philosophy is built on General Dialectics and Extended Dialectics. These methods allow different philosophical traditions to find their proper place, to be connected and integrated, and to work together as a complete system. The goal is not to replace individual schools of thought, but to recognize their strengths, limitations, and interconnections.
The Framework of General Philosophy
General Philosophy has developed two major frameworks:
Extraordinary (5+1): Six Philosophical Forms
Philosophy 0 – Zero-Point Theory: Emptiness and creation from nothing.
Philosophy 1 – Atomism: The smallest individual units.
Philosophy 2 – Contradiction Theory: The dynamics of opposition and unity.
Philosophy 3 – Systems Theory: The relationship between parts and the whole.
Philosophy 4 – General Theory: Integration of all forms into a higher synthesis.
Philosophy Q – Super-Point Theory: Spiral development and transcendence.
Extraordinary (9+1): Ten Philosophical Forms
This expands the system into ten categories, including Meta-Philosophy (000), Idol Philosophy (00), Image Philosophy (QQ), and Ordinary Philosophy (QQQ). Ancient and modern, Eastern and Western philosophies can all be mapped within this framework—for example:
Daoism as Zero-Point Theory (0),
Confucianism as Systems Theory (3),
Legalism as Super-Point Theory (Q),
The Yijing as Image Philosophy (QQ).
Greek philosophy shows striking parallels: Laozi’s Dao and Pythagoras’s Number both represent cyclic and spiral patterns of General Philosophy.
Method and Application
General Dialectics: the grand method that integrates all philosophical forms into a coherent whole.
Extended Dialectics: the grand method of handling universal connections, making them precise and contextual rather than vague.
In practice, General Philosophy provides flexible tools for understanding situations:
An individual acting independently → Atomism (1).
Two people in conflict → Contradiction Theory (2).
Three forming a group → Systems Theory (3).
Four dividing into factions → General Theory (4).
Facing uncertainty → Zero-Point wisdom (0).
Seeking breakthrough → Super-Point wisdom (Q).
Thus, General Philosophy is both a philosophical framework and a practical methodology.
Advanced Philosophy Textbook
The culmination of this system is the Advanced Philosophy Textbook, based on the Extraordinary (9+1) Ten Philosophical Forms. It consists of 10 volumes, each with 10 chapters, totaling 100 chapters and about 500,000 words.
